Undergrad Alma Mater
Lately I am getting a bunch of emails from my undergrad alma mater – all congratulatory emails from classmates and batch mates I have long forgotten. It seems that our undergraduate school has very slim presence in the top business schools in US. So, the pressure on me has doubled, as I will be representing my university in the business school circles in US. Now when I look back I realize how naïve I was then – probably due to lack of any alumni to idolize; lack of a mentor. I hope that I can provide that role model to any future potential candidates from my alma mater.
Management Gurus
In some recent conversations the following names were frequented whenever I talked about Michigan – Dave Ulrich, Noel Tichy and C.K. Prahalad. They are listed as the Top 10 Management Gurus in a recent BusinessWeek Survey. I was amazed when I came across the name Prahalad while I was reading a recent address by the SBI Chairman to the Board of Directors (as if the name Prahalad has intersected every boardroom in India). I am fortunate to get an opportunity to be amidst such top class management gurus for the next 2 years of my life. Needless to say, I am excited.
